Five Great Wooden Toys For Toddlers

Toddlers are such loveable little ones. Always filled with adventure and filled with enough energy to make a commercial for the little energizer bunny! It is important to fill these years with educational wooden toys to help with the child's motor skills. Hand/eye color coordination, finger dexterity, and non-sequential stacking capability can all be measured with many wooden toys.

Wooden stacking toys are a wonderful toy for toddlers. Toddlers will enjoy the bright colors and improve the hand/eye coordination with wooden stacking toys. Some of the best wooden stacking toys that I like are the hamburger and sandwich wooden stacking toys. Even some adults enjoy these good old fashioned wooden stacking toys.

Wooden building blocks are an old toy that has been a favorite by many young children. Wooden building blocks help to develop dexterity, problem-solving and reasoning skills, hand/eye coordination, color, shape, size identification and also be lots of fun. Some blocks are all natural and other blocks are different colors.

Wooden push toys are a must have toy for the little energetic toddler. Wooden push and pull toys are helpful for balance and will keep the toddler focused as they are learning to walk. These wooden toys will keep them walking and walking! Little wooden wagons are also a great toy for toddlers. These little wagons help a child learn to walk while pulling something behind and also helps the toddler learn to navigate turns while walking and pulling a toy. Toddlers will enjoy putting all their little "goodies" in a wooden wagon and then proudly walking around pulling their little wooden wagon.

Toddlers love to make noise. One good thing about a toddler is you know where they are when you can hear them, but when it is quiet......you know that it is time to start checking things out! Another old wooden toy that toddlers love is a wooden hammer and peg set. I still have mine that I received for my first birthday. It is now setting on a shelf for display. This little set has wooden dowel rods and a wooden hammer that the child can pound and then turn the game over and start pounding again. The best one that I have seen has a small leather strap which attaches the hammer to the peg set so the hammer does not get separated. My daughter has this set at her daycare center and it is a game that is played with often. It is interesting to watch the eyes of the toddler light up when seeing their accomplishment of pounding the pegs through.

Toddlers love toys, but just having a toy is not enough. Make it an educational, wooden toy and learn to bring out the creativity in your child with a unique, wooden toy!
